2013 SMSA Executive Committee Elections
We will need to elect three Regional positions (Western, Central and Eastern Regional Representatives) and one Supporting Member positions in 2013 SMSA election.
Elections are done by ballot prior to the 2013 Member Business Meeting on August 23. There will be no elections at the Business Meeting.
Regional Representatives are elected by the state members in each region.

The Supporting Member Representative is elected by the Supporting Members.

If you are interested in serving on the SMSA Executive Committee as a Regional Representative or Supporting Member Representative, please submit the Intention to Serve on the Executive Committee form to the SMSA Business Office at office@smsa.org by June 1, 2013.
If you would like to nominate someone for one of these positions, please contact that person before making the nomination so they are aware of your plans. Individuals running for a position on the Executive Committee need to obtain approval from their organization to run for and accept a position on the SMSA Executive Committee.
All three Regional Representatives and the Supporting Member Representative will serve a two year term starting August 2013 and ending August 2015.

SMSA 2013 1-Year Strategic Plan
Over the past three months the SMSA Executive Committee has been diligently developing a Strategic Plan to outline the future direction of the Association. This process includes the development of a 5-Year Strategic Plan for 2014-2019 which will be presented to the SMSA Membership during the Annual Business Meeting in Kansas City, MO August 23, 2013.
The process also includes the annual development of a 1-Year Plan to clearly identify the goals and activities of the SMSA for that year. We are pleased to be able to provide you with the attached 1-Year Plan for 2013. As you will see, the SMSA Executive Committee has identified some exciting projects and activities for 2013 which will greatly benefit the SMSA Membership and lay the groundwork for additional efforts for
2014-2019.

Christopher A. Hart, Vice Chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) speaks at the 2012 SMSA Members Business Meeting and encourages State Motorcycle Safety Programs to continue their efforts in reducing motorcyclist crashes by developing new relationships with enforcement agencies to detect impaired riders which represent 28% of riders involved in fatal crashes on the nations roadways.
